The City’s contracts

The City of Vancouver publishes the competitions it posted and awarded — 1,671 from 2013 to 2025 — with every response it received: the winning offers and the losing bids, with their prices. One row per response to a posted competition. A competition can award several vendors (pre-qualified pools, lots).

One competition draws several bids and can make several awards (lots, or a pool of firms the City later draws on). In 2016: 151 competitions, 578 responses, 199 awards; 0 competitions with no award; 25 drew a single response, and the median competition drew 3.

An award the register prints beside several winners counts in full on each vendor’s line and once in the City’s total.

Before 2015, most competitions list a single response. Losing bids appear routinely from 2015, so compare bidder counts from that year on.

Some awards are published without an amount (pre-qualifications, standing offers); they count as awards but add nothing to totals. Across the register that is 1,050 of 2,573 awards, 2013–2025; 52 in 2016. The page's number is therefore what the City awarded where it published an amount, not everything it awarded.

The Awarded contracts register on the City of Vancouver's open data portal (Open Government Licence - Vancouver), one row per response. A competition's year is the year of its award.
