Understand

What does this number measure?

The grants the City paid in the year, as published in the annex of the administrative account: associations, foundations, public institutions, social landlords. A grant voted over several years counts each year for what was paid that year.

Why do ten recipients receive 46% of the total?

The largest recipients are the City’s own operators: the social action centre, Marseille Musées, the school funds, the social landlords. Their operating grant is voted every year and sits here, next to the aid to associations. The median is €5k: half of the grants are smaller.

How is aid paid to individuals counted?

In 2022, €2.7M went to individuals. They are counted in the number, never named: the open data names them, this site does not.

Where do these numbers come from?
