What does this number measure?
The grants the City paid in the year, as published in the annex of the administrative account: associations, foundations, public institutions, social landlords. A grant voted over several years counts each year for what was paid that year.
Why do ten recipients make 55%?
The largest recipients are the City’s own operators: the social action centre, Paris Musées, the school funds, the social landlords. Their operating grant is voted every year and sits here, next to the aid to associations. The median is €6k: half of the grants are smaller.
What about aid paid to individuals?
In 2025, €3.9M went to individuals. They are counted in the number, never named: the open data names them, this site does not.
Where do these numbers come from?
Grants paid, annex of the City’s administrative account on opendata.paris.fr, since 2018; 2010-2017 from the archived annexes; 2020, 2021 and 2025 read in the administrative account’s PDF, as the dataset does not cover them.
